Bhubaneswar, Sept. 18: Shoppers who were waiting for great deals and an array of handloom products to buy for the festive season now have the perfect chance.

National Handloom Development Corporation Limited inaugurated a silk handloom exhibition today at a city-based hotel at Janpath.

Silk Fab, the exhibition, offers handloom products in different varieties of silk from 15 different states.

From muga, tussar, mulberry to eri silk, the handloom items have been crafted in Indian varieties of silk that are famous all over the world.

Printed saris are available in pure silk that display latest designs and patterns such as geometrical shapes and abstract images.

Tribal art adorns most tussar collections that either have the Worli and Odisha tribal painting style designs on the borders or the pallu or both and in some cases the entire sari, making the collection a must buy. Saris are available in rich colours as well as pastels.

The unique collections offered at the silk expo that are attracting buyers, include Garwal, Dharamavaram and Pochampalli silks of Andhra Pradesh; Chintamani, Kasauti works and Karnataka silks from Karnataka; Muga silk collections of Assam, Chanderi and Maheswari of Madhya Pradesh, Madhubani of Bihar, tribal work and Kosa silk of Chhattisgarh, Pathani and Puna saris of Maharashtra, Bomaki and Sambalpuri saris of the host state, Bandhej of Rajasthan, Gatkora and patola of Gujarat, Jamdani and Benarasi silk of Uttar Pradesh, Baluchari and Kantha of Bengal, Kosa silk of Jharkhand and so on.
