Bhubaneswar, Aug. 19: Young shutterbugs in the city had a field day today searching for the best shot. It was World Photography Day and they were all happily going click, click, click.
From workshops to musical concerts, photographers from various clubs came together to celebrate the passion that drives them to do anything for the best shot.
A group of youngsters in the city under the banner Happy Photographers organised a contest on the theme 'freedom'. They received over 100 entries and the top 10 captures were awarded at a musical concert conducted by the group at Utkal Mandap in the city today.
Participants also had a fun time listening to rock bands Ninad and Highway Jammers as the photographers captured some electrifying moments from the concert.
"Every photograph has his or her individual perception about an issue. The day is special for us. Here we got an opportunity to talk and share our views and have some fun," said one of the organising members of the group, Subrat Dash.
A workshop on street photography was also organised by city-based lensman Sunnil Kalinndi. He trained the participants on various technical aspects and also advised them how to spot artistic clicks from the streets.
"Photography helps us to connect with everyone irrespective of their age and background. If one wants to hone his or her skills, one should start their journey with street photography as it offers wide scope for experiment," said Kalinndi. The workshop was facilitated by photography club Mushroom, which also conducted a picture making competition at the Raajdhani Engineering College today.
The day was also celebrated in various academic institutes. The students of DAV Pokhariput got to handle antique cameras at an exhibition held in the school.
A lecture demonstration on the currents trends in photo journalism was held at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal. A photo exhibition based on the district was also organised and Siba Swastik Srichandan was adjudged the best photographer.
