Sambalpur, Aug. 3: Three persons allegedly involved in a shoot-out in Rengali of Sambalpur district were arrested today. The Sambalpur police have seized a revolver and a pistol from them.
The arrested have been identified as Md. Sahazad, Din Mahammad and Kapildev Tiwari. Md. Sher Ali, Bishnu Dev Singh, Krushna Dev Singh and Kapil Dev Tiwari — were going to a go-down in Ramchandra Nagar on July 31.
Two unidentified persons allegedly opened fire on them in an attempt to rob them. Bishnu Dev Singh sustained bullet wounds. He was admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Medical College and Hospital at Burla.
“The superintendent of police of Sambalpur has formed a team to inquire into the matter. During the investigation it was, however, found out that the firing had actually taken place in a go-down owned by Din Mahammad at Ramchandra Nagar,” said Dilip Kumar Deo, sub-divisional police officer of Sambalpur.
He added: “Md. Shel Ali, a relative of Din Mahammad, had been to Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. During his stay there, he had contacted Bishnu Dev Singh, Krushna Dev Singh and Kapil Dev Tiwari. He had asked them to work for him at his go-down. On July 31, the four persons from Sultanpur reached the go-down. One of the employees Md. Sahazad, who stays in the go-down, showed the new employees persons a gun. A shot was fired accidentally and Bishnu Dev Singh was injured.”
