Bhubaneswar, Sept. 11: Block grant high schools, which were closed since August 1, would reopen tomorrow. The 41-day strike by the Block Grant Secondary School Teachers and Employees’ Association was called off following an assurance from the state government that their demands would be taken into consideration.

“We decided to reopen all the schools after receiving an assurance from the school and mass education minister Pratap Jena to fulfil our genuine demands,” said Prasant Kumar Mohapatra, president of the association.

“However, if our demands are not fulfilled by the government, the association will be forced to resume the agitation,” said Mohapatra. Jena welcomed the decision of the association to reopen the schools. “The government is looking into their demands,” he said.
