Bhubaneswar, Aug. 4: An assortment of handloom attires in attractive prints and fashionable designs is on display at an exhibition that was inaugurated at a city hotel here yesterday.
The exhibition, Silk India, boasts of silk and cotton fabrics from various places across the country. The collection includes pochampalli and zari border sarees from the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh and Madurai and the kanjeevaram fabrics from Tamil Nadu.
The collection also includes cotton fabrics from Himachal Pradesh and Benaras silk saris. The exhibition also has the popular kurtas and dress materials based on the special Lucknow chikan embroidery, Rajasthani block print and phulkari from Patiala in Punjab.
Sikha, a seller from Bengal, said: "The saris in our collection have been hand-printed by weavers."
Odia actress Pinky Pradhan, who visited the exhibition, said: "It is quite fascinating to find saris from various states of the country under one roof. The price of the saris is also reasonable," she said.
