Sambalpur, Oct. 3: The city is set to have a Chicken Fresh outlet shortly.

The Odisha State Poultry Producers Co-operative Marketing Federation would open an outlet here after doing brisk business in Bhubaneswar. "The outlet will be opened to cater to the growing demand of raw chicken. Sambalpur residents will get best quality processed chicken at reasonable rates," said chief district veterinary officer Sabyasachi Basu.

"Both broiler and country birds will be available at the outlet. The price of chicken and eggs at the outlet will be comparatively lower than the prevailing market rates," he said.

"Poultry farmers will be benefited since it is bound to reduce the involvement of middleman. The federation will purchase the birds from the farmers directly," Basu said.

"We have started conducting a detailed survey on the daily consumption of chicken in Sambalpur city. The report will be prepared shortly. Initially, we have plans of opening one outlet in the city. If this outlet receives a good response, more we will open more later," he said.

Sources said the department had proposal to open the Chicken Fresh outlet at Kamilbazar. Around 1,600sqft space will be required for it.

"With such an outlet, we will get quality poultry products at affordable rates. This is good news," said local resident Bibhu Mohanty.
