Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Development Authority will organise the fourth of its lecture series on -Road Safety Improvement Lighter, Quicker and Cheaper approach- for two days, starting August 4. Experts, citizens, volunteers and artists will take part in the lecture to create a model traffic intersection at Rupali Square on Janpath. If the experiment is proved successful, it will be considered for implementation in the Smart Janpath Project.

Rape attempt

 Baripada: Local residents at Thakurmunda of Mayurbhanj district thrashed three persons accused of attempting to rape a widow on Tuesday night. According to reports, three people entered the woman’s house and tried to outrage her modesty. While fleeing the spot, they were nabbed by the villagers and beaten up after being tied.

New stadium

Puri: The Union sports ministry has approved the project to set up an international level stadium here with ultramodern facilities in Puri. The stadium will be set up at an estimate cost of Rs 7.5 crore under the centre’s Rajeev Gandhi Khel Abhiyan scheme. The district administration has assured to provide land for the project near Talabania. The tender process will start after the detailed project report is prepared, Puri collector said.
