16-year-old Prakash Naik to train at Tata Football Academy

Felicitation programme 

The DAV Public School, Pokhariput, organised a special felicitation ceremony in honour of the students who topped in their classes. These students got full marks in various subjects and scored 90 per cent and above in the Class XII board exams. Along with them, the all-rounders of Class XI and XII were also felicitated. The celebration took place at the school in the presence of Omkarnath Mohanty, the former vice-chancellor of BPUT. Mohanty was the chief guest and he gave away mementos and certificates to the meritorious students.

Doctor’s day

With the aim to inspire love for nature among students, DAV Public School, Pokhariput, celebrated National Doctors’ Day and gave their regards to the community that keeps the society healthy. The students, under the able guidance of their teacher Sakti Prasanna Mohanty, organised a number of events on the doctors’ day. A play, poetry recitation and a presentation on the importance of doctors invited a large round of applause from the audience. “This is the day when we can show our love and care for doctors,” said Shrestha Patir, a student of 
Class VI. The school principal, Sujata, urged the students to never forget the importance of doctors.

Football talent

Sixteen-year-old Prakash Naik has been selected in the junior batch of the Tata Football Academy (TFA), Jamshedpur. Sudam Marndi, the state minister of sports and youth services, in the presence of Arun Misra, vice-president of the Gopalpur project undertaken by Tata Steel, felicitated Prakash. Tata Steel will bear all his expenses during the training period.

Foundation day

DAV Public School, Iffco Township, Paradip, celebrated its tenth foundation day recently. To mark the occasion, the school organised poetry, painting, elocution and music competitions.

Yoga session

Students of the Blossoms School celebrated International Day of Yoga. Yoga instructor Mamata Mohanty taught the teachers and students various yoga postures and its significant benefits. “Doing yoga will not only benefit students physically but also mentally,” said Purnima Paikaray, the principal of the school.
