Bhubaneswar: A centre of excellence will shortly be set up in the city for the teachers of CBSE schools where they will be provided refresher courses.

The human resource and development ministry's school education and literacy department secretary Anil Swarup said the Centre was all set to bring in reforms in the CBSE curriculum in the country.

"It will take a bit of time as it has to go to the cabinet. A committee was formed to bring in reforms on the system, and they had recently submitted their report. They have suggested the use of technology for making the education system easier," he said here on Monday.

He was speaking during a meeting of the English-medium school principals of the state. Twenty principals of schools across the state attended the meeting held at the SAI International School here.

"I am a great believer in the public-private school partnership," said Swarup. He encouraged the principals to identify, appreciate and replicate good work as well as make models of them and spread the stories of goodness.

He also asked the Bhubaneswar regional officer to form a core group of few members at an earliest with the officer as the convener and take up issues with practical solution of the same and send it to the CBSE office.

Swarup also asked all schools to come up with their own "action plan" to ensure safety and security of children in schools. "Many a time, we think passing an act will solve the issues, but its implementation is crucial. It is not the job of the government alone but all of us have to work for it. We must realise what needs to be done to overcome many major problems," he said.

The school and mass education department's principal secretary P.K. Mohapatra outlined various measures taken by the state government to address education-related issues.
