Silver jubilee
The DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, celebrated its silver jubilee event for three days from August 2 to August 4. Minister of state, petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan and minister of school and mass education Debi Prasad Mishra attended the celebrations. Eminent litterateur and Murthydevi Awardee Haraprasad Das delivered the foundation day lecture on “Changes and challenges of present day education”. A spree of cultural activities marked the occasion. A souvenir of the silver jubilee celebrations was released during the celebrations. Various achievers were felicitated on the occasion for contributions in their respective fields. Prizewinners of various schools of Odisha who took part in competitions such as elocution (English, Odia, Hindi) science exhibition and seminar, drawing, painting, group song, group dance organised by the school were also felicitated during the celebrations.

Investiture ceremony
The investiture ceremony of Delhi Public School, Kalinga, was held on August 5 for the senior prefectorial board and August 6, 2014, for junior prefectorial board. It is the occasion where the newly elected and selected members of the School Senate are officially vested with their powers and positions. T.N. Khuntia, DIG (police), (CRPF) and Nidhi Dhawan, director and principal of Happy Hours Playschool were the chief guests on the occasion. Khuntia spoke on the solemnity of the occasion and stressed on responsibilities attached to leaders while executing their duties. Dhawan said that being together and doing things will definitely enhance their interpersonal skills. It was a proud moment for the authorities, teachers and the parents to see the budding leaders of tomorrow ready to face the world with a spirit of unity, teamwork and discipline.

Independence Day celebration
Students of Vikash Residential School celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Professor Aditya Kumar Mohanty, the chief guest of the occasion, hoisted the national flag along with the principal of the school Pitambar Das. A spectacular march past by the students dressed in the house uniforms was the centre of attraction. Das in his address advised the students to keep up the spirit of independence in them. The chief guest threw light on the importance of the day and our duties towards the nation. The group songs and colourful dance performances showcased by the students mesmerised all the guests and viewers. Prizes were given away to the winners for excellence in various co-curricular activities.

World Friendship Day
Students of Vidwan Concept School of Vidwanite Fraternity enthusiastically participated on occasion of the ‘World Friendship Day’ on August 3. An educational trip was undertaken to the Indira Gandhi Park, Bhubaneswar, in order to instil the qualities of nurturing nature and understand the vision of Green Odisha campaign by planting saplings and sending across a message of public awareness of saving tress and greenery.
