Paradip, Nov. 9: A Class V student of a government-run primary school was allegedly raped at Nadiabarei village in Patkura police station limits of Kendrapara district.

A local youth, Prafulla Sethy, had committed the crime on November 3.

The victim had initially suppressed the sexual assault on her and was in a state of shock. Later, she revealed the matter to her parents, said Kendrapara superintendent of police Rabi Narayan Behera.

In another development, police have taken into custody the culprit, who had allegedly raped an 11-year-old Dalit student on the premises of a government-run primary school in Jagatsinghpur district.

The offender, Sagar Swain, 25, had been given shelter on the school premises in the wake of damage caused to his house during Phailin.

The incident occurred on November 1 on the premises of Kostimallikapur Primary School.
