Sonepur: District collector Dasarathi Satapathy has recommended suspension of Suresh Chandra Bag, the headmaster of Putkipali Upper Primary School in Tarabha block, for allegedly appointing a villager to proxy for him against Rs 2,000 every month.

It is alleged that Bag used to pay the amount to one Ganapati Chouhan of Singhari village from his account.

The collector has also ordered dismissal of a para-teacher of the school, Satyabrata Dash.

Satapathy also ordered draft proceeding against the Tarabha block education officer Keshab Chandra Meher for failing in his duty. The collector asked the district project co-ordinator of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to initiate action against the guilty teacher at a review meeting of the education department and the abhiyan on Wednesday.

Sources said Tarabha block development officer Prasanna Kumar Pandey, while on a surprise visit to the primary school, had found that both Bag and Dash appointed in the school were absent. During inquiry, he found that Bag never attended school, and instead, had appointed Chouhan to work for him.
