Cuttack, Jan. 13: Irked by the delay in the publication of their results, pharmacy students of Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital here staged a demonstration on the campus today.

Students of pharmacy diploma courses burned tyres and locked the gate to tender their protest.

“Though there is a provision for results to be published within 45 days of the examination, our results have not been declared till now.

“It has been six months since the examination took place,” said vice-president of the students’ union Biman Behera.

The examination for first and second-year pharmacy students were held in June last year.

Second-year students are also facing problems due to the delay in the publication of the results.

“Zonal recruitment of paramedical staff is on at district level. As our results are not declared, we cannot go for the interviews,” said second-year student Binita Meher.

The Orissa State Board of Pharmacy is yet to declare the results even after six months of the examination. This has created fears in the minds of students who are losing valuable time.

The students have also alleged that they were yet to get back their certificates which they had submitted at the time of admission.

Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mohapatra of the Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital expressed his helplessness as the Orissa State Board of Pharmacy was in charge of the examination.

“We had sent all answer sheets to the board. However, the board has not replied yet,” Mohapatra said.
