Kendrapara, April 25: Non-execution of arrest warrant against 109 government officials who had skipped poll duty has sparked off a fresh row.
The errant employees were served a non-bailable warrant on April 17. But, the authorities were yet to initiate any legal action against them even a week after the issuance of the warrant.
In another development, the district administration withdrew prohibitory orders from Mahakalpada, Rajkanika and Aul areas.
These areas, including Kendrapara and other parts of the district, had been brought under prohibitory order on April 19 in the wake of the post-poll violence.
The administrative inaction over the arrest of officials has triggered a debate with people arguing that authorities are lenient towards those holding office while adopting harsh stand towards the common men.
Kendrapara police superintendent Rabi Narayan Behera said: “We are yet to receive the order. The arrest warrant would be executed with due process of law once we receive it.”
District collector Nitin Bhanudas Jawale said: “The list would be dispatched to the police once re-poll is concluded at a booth in Aul Assembly constituency held today.”
