Bhubaneswar: Entrepreneurs from across Odisha have come together to discuss innovative technologies to run businesses at the three-day Odisha Start-Up Summit that began here on Thursday.
The event is the largest summit for the young entrepreneurs, students and budding entrepreneurs of state. It is being held on ITER campus, SOA University.
Speaking on the occasion, principal secretary of the state's industries department Sanjeev Chopra said: "It is time for the youth to do business ventures of their own rather searching for jobs. They should come out to create new job opportunities."
He said the focus was gradually shifting from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar as one of the foremost places for entrepreneurship.
"The state government has taken the initiative of developing a single-window system for all industries, including start-ups, with the portal Go Swift. The portal has helped in investor facilitation, creating a conducive business environment through transparency and ensuring a time-bound clearance. All entrepreneurs should go through the site and look for their requirements. Suggestions to make the improvement of the initiatives are most welcome," he said.
Matrudutta Mishra, chairman of YI Bhubaneswar chapter, said: "Earlier, it was very difficult to start up a business and run it as there was lack of information and support. But the central and the state governments are now providing many facilities through many schemes and initiatives for budding entrepreneurs."
While sharing their success stories, entrepreneurs will also speak on topics including funding patterns, business plans and compliance issue.
In another session, entrepreneurs will get a chance to understand the intricacies of marketing, sales, branding, achieving target and handling customers.
"What Odisha needs is a holistic ecosystem for start-ups and awareness campaigns of various aspects and challenges of a start-ups to prospective entrepreneurs. We need to groom the entrepreneurs of the state for a bright future and a strong economy," said Abanis Nayak, founder of Zamura Software Solutions Pvt Ltd.
