Teachers turn students at training programme

Delhi Public School event

Delhi Public School, Kalinga, celebrated its prep-graduation ceremony marking the end of the 2016-17 session for tiny tots. The school hosted a colourful ceremony where Namrata Chadha, a member of the Juvenile Justice Board, took part as chief guest.

Teaching workshop 

The regional directorate of DAV Institutions in the state hosted a primary and secondary-level training programme for Hindi teachers on February 25 and 26 at DAV Public School, Unit —VIII. 

Discussions on teaching concepts such as e-lessons plans, development of effective modules for specific chapters and classroom management were held under the guidance of Anoop Kumar from the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar. 

Around 70 teachers from 25 DAV schools in the state took part in the programme in Bhubaneswar.

Taekwondo meet 

Seven students of ODM Public School made the state proud at the International Taekwondo Meet in Kathmandu, which witnessed youngsters from 14 countries take part. 

In the 65kg senior category, Class IX student Ashish Pradhan won bronze, while Class X student Indrajit Parida won gold in the 59kg junior category. Aditi Mishra, a student of Class IX, won the bronze medal in the U17 category. 

Record numbers

A record 1,350 students from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, are appearing the High School Certificate examinations. Among the students that are appearing for the examination, 700 are boys and 650 are girls. KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta wished them success in the examinations. 

In another event at KISS, Aashna W.R. Kanhai, the Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname, visited  the institute on February 25 and interacted with the students of the institute.

Annual event

Joharimall High School, Cuttack, hosted its annual function at Saheed Bhavan recently as students turned out in large numbers to take part. 

Retired Indian Poilce Service officer and former Member of Parliament Anadi Charan Sahu, who was the chief speaker, said one must learn to understand life and lead it with discipline. 

The chief guest at the event, advocate-general Surya Prasad Misra, said the students’ aim in life should be to receive and spread knowledge among everyone. 

At the end of the event, the guests dristributed prizes to meritorious students of the school, which was followed by a cultural programme that saw participation of the students.
