Cuttack: President Ram Nath Kovind will visit the National Law University, Odisha, will deliver the varsity's third foundation day lecture on Saturday.
The state government established the law varsity in 2008, but its foundation day was observed for the first time in 2015. Justice D.K. Jain and Nobel laureate Kailash Sathyarthi delivered the first and second foundation day lectures respectively.
Varsity vice-chancellor Srikrishna Deva Rao on Thursday said: "President Ram Nath Kovind, who will be on his first official visit to Odisha, has given his consent to deliver the lecture. The lecture will begin at 3.50pm."
The varsity started functioning from a rented building before being shifted to Naraj after chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the main campus in 2012. The present campus now spreads over 50 acres.
Rao said the university, which has emerged as a leading destination for legal education in India, offers academic programmes such as BA LLB, BBA LLB when it started in 2009. Additionally, it now offers LLM and PhD programmes.
The varsity also started 17 research centres in 2014 to foster a culture of research.
