Bhubaneswar, July 31: Members of a foundation have come up with a website gourparbati.com named after Gour Pratap Ghose and Parbati Ghose for their contribution towards the Odia film industry in its developing stages.

As a tribute to the iconic couple, the Gour Pratap Ghose Foundation members have created the website that is laden with rare photographs and information about films and their life events.

Gour's family settled in Cuttack and his affinity for cinema dates back to his college days when he used to take part in plays at the Ravenshaw College. In 1947, he played the protagonist's role in a play August Nau. Later, Gour went on to become a major theatre personality and forayed into films with Shri Jagannath, the second Odia film to be made. Chapala Naik, a child artiste, who had acted in the film, later became Parbati Ghose, an actress and Gour's wife.

Many more details about the lives of Gour and Parbati have been documented in biographies on the website.

"We tried to include many interesting events in their lives as film personalities, who had contributed so much to Odia cinema. We also collected some unseen pictures and uploaded them on the website, so that a form of documentation can be done on the two legends when nothing has been done so far," said Khirod Naik, a compiler on the website.

Gour, who had worked at the Prithvi theatre in Mumbai for a while, is remembered for his stellar roles in Amari Gaan Jhua, Kedar Gouri and as the producer of Bhai Bhai, Maa, Laxmi, Kaa, Stree and Sansar.

Gour died in 1994, while Parbati is working on selected projects that interest her.
