Cuttack: The Justice Madan Mohan Das Commission, which is identifying investors duped by dubious financial companies, has informed Orissa High Court that GLP Developers Limited and Golden Land Developers Limited had collected a whopping Rs 590.68 crores from around 8.88 lakh people in the state.

The group of deposit collection and real estate companies had collected this money through its branch offices in Balugaon, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Bhanjanagar, Parlakhemundi and Bhawanipatna, the commission has mentioned in its report.

"The report was submitted in pursuance of an order issued by Orissa High Court asking the commission of inquiry to take up the process of identification of the depositors/investors of GLP Developers Limited and Golden Land Developers Limited and submit a report," commission secretary Devraj Rout told The Telegraph on Friday.

The high court had issued the order on January 4 last year after the GLP Developers Limited and Golden Land Developers Limited sought its intervention stating that it was ready and willing to return the money to the depositors.

The high court had set a two-month deadline for submission of the report.

Accordingly, the commission invited affidavits from duped investors and depositors of Golden Land Developers Group of Companies for refund of money.

The commission has so far received 8,88,052 affidavits.
