Balasore, May 3: Crime branch police today seized documents from Saradha reality’s office at Fakir Mohan circle here.

The locks of the office, located on the second floor of Sudhanjali Tower complex, were broken in presence of local tehsildar Pinaki Patnaik, who acted as an executive magistrate. The complex was guarded to prevent entry of outsiders.

“There were eight computers and some documents in the room. The team is now examining the papers,” said Patnaik.

“The team is examining the data in the hard disks,” he said without divulging further details.

The branch office of the Bengal-based fraud deposit-collection firm located in Balasore had remained locked for the past 20 days.

Sources said company officials had tried to enter the office after arrest of their director, Sudipta Sen, and take away the computers. But the building owners did not permit them.

In another development, the crime branch’s economic offence wing has reportedly made an investigation into the plot purchased by the company at Chandipur, around 20km from the town. The police and the administration are reportedly contemplating confiscation of the property and selling it. The sale proceed are expected to bring some help in refunding money to the investors.

The company has purchased 14.31 acres at Srikona Mouza in Chandipur.

“A representative of the company had applied for change of ownership (mutation) of the land measuring 14.31 acres last April. But, since the applicant did not turn up, it was rejected. Therefore, the company is holding the land without mutation,” said Patnaik.

“The present value of the land could be around Rs 7 crore to Rs 8 crore. The cops should send an alert to the district sub-registrar office, so that no further transaction is made on the land,” he said.
