Baripada, Nov. 29: Maoist posters have been spotted at some villages in Mayurbhanj district, which borders Jharkhand's rebel-hit areas.

The posters were found at several locations, including bus terminals under Jharpokharia and Garumahisani police station limits today. While some were written in Odia, others were in Hindi and the Olchiki script of the Santhals.

The main content of the posters was a call to observe a People's Liberation Guerilla Army week from December 2 to 8 and join the force to protect natural resources from industries and mines mafia.

Additional police superintendent Gobinda Chandra Mallick said: "The posters have been seized and we are looking into the matter."

The posters were found at Joka and Pakatia under Jharpokharia police station limits and at Chadehipahadi village, which is under the Garumahisani police station limits. Jharpokharia and Garumahasani are located close to Ghodabandha and Dumuria in Jharkhand's Red zone.

Inspector in-charge of Jharpokharia police station Ismail Ekka said: "Around 20 posters were found this morning pasted on walls. Some are written in Odia, others in Hindi and Olchiki script."

"We often see some strangers in our village. We are in a persistent state of fear since 2007," said a resident of Jharpokharia village who did not want to be named.
