Berhampur, Aug. 21: Chhatrapur police have seized 40 live bombs concealed in a wooden box from a locked house at Gola Sahi in Brahmaniapalli village, about 25km from here.
“The police raided the house after a series of bomb attacks that had taken place at nearby villages, including Golapalli and Sindurapalli, in the recent past,” inspector in charge of Chhatrapur police station Dilip Tripathy said.
“We have not yet made any arrest. A case will be registered against the house owner, once its ownership is established,” he said.
Two persons from Brahmaniapalli village had hurled three bombs at Sindurapalli on Sunday. The police arrested Kailash Patra of Brahmaniapalli village next day.
The cops also arrested seven persons on charge of bomb attack at Golapalli a few days ago.
“We suspect that the bombs used in these attacks had been supplied from Brahmaniapalli village,” said Tripathy.
Aska twin murders
Criminals murdered two persons, identified as Ramahari Panda, 50, and Goura Chandra Nayak, 34, at Landajuali village under Jharapari panchayat of Dharakote block in Ganjam district.
The duo were returning to their village on a motorbike yesterday. After killing the two, the assailants threw the bodies into a nearby canal. The bodies bore cut injuries on chests, stomachs and hands. They were attacked with sharp weapons.
Bidyadhar Nayak, father of Goura, had taken the two to Aska Hospital where the doctors declared them dead. Bidyadhar alleged that one Bijaya Padhi and his son Kailash Padhi of Sasana village had killed Goura and Ramahari.
“The father-son duo had a dispute over construction of an anganwadi centre in the village. On an earlier occasion, the duo and their supporters had attacked me also. I had lodged a complaint with Gangapur police station,” Bidyadhar said. The police have registered a case.
