Bhubaneswar, May 3: Two motorcycle-borne men allegedly robbed an employee of a mining company of cash worth Rs 2 lakh in front of a bank near S-complex Square this afternoon.
Prashana Nayak, cashier of Managovinda Mohanty Minerals Private Limited at Forest Park, claimed the criminals had come from the Ram Mandir side and snatched away the cash-filled bag, when he was approaching towards his two-wheeler parked in front of the bank after withdrawing the cash.
“I was opening the wheel lock of my motorcycle, when two youths, on a black motorcycle, zipped past me snatching away the bag. Before I could shout for help they fled towards Master Canteen Square,” said Nayak.
He rushed to Kharavela Nagar police station, around 100 metres away from the spot, and lodged a complaint.
Inspector-in-charge Manoj Samant said they found that none in the area had seen the incident happening. “Neither the man resisted the attempt of snatching nor did he shouted for help. We even checked the closed-circuit television cameras installed in front of the bank. It showed no footage of snatching,” said Samant.
