Bhubaneswar, June 30: The online application process for junior college admissions began today and will continue till July 13. An official of the Odisha higher education department said there would be no manual form fill-up for Plus Two courses this year.
“Orissa High Court’s order for manual admissions pertains only to Plus Three admissions. We have not received any instruction for keeping the offline process open for Plus Two admissions,” said higher education secretary Aparajita Sarangi.
A common prospectus containing details of the e-admission process, junior colleges, seat matrix, subject availability, cut-off marks of previous year, hostel facilities, fees and other information is available on the website of the Odisha department of higher education (www.dheorissa.in). One can also view a video clip of the instruction manual on the website.
A candidate can fill up to six choices of colleges in order of preference. There is also an option to make changes in an applicant’s form through the “Edit CAF” option within 24 hours of submission. The information, which was submitted, can be modified by using the reference number and password that is given to the candidates at the time of online submission of the form.
After filling up the forms, a candidate has to take out two printed copies of it — a college copy and an applicant copy. The college copy requires the signature of both the applicant and his/her guardian. Both the copies have to be deposited to any of the 410 student academic management system (Sams) resource centres, which are facilitating e-admission to the junior colleges of Odisha, along with all relevant documents and fees.
Candidates can submit the copies at any of the Sams resource centres till 5pm of July 14. While there are over 3.05 lakh seats in the 1300-odd Plus Two colleges in Odisha, around 3,000 forms had been submitted online till this evening.
The first selection merit list would be declared on the department’s website on July 26 at 11am. No second selection process will be held. The admissions will be conducted between July 31 and August 6. It will be followed by admissions for SC/ST candidates and for the balance seats in various colleges on August 10 and August 16 respectively.
First year classes are scheduled to begin from August 17. The higher education department suggested that students could call its toll-free helpline Sanjog (155335) in case of any query regarding the online admission process.
