Students spread awareness about organ donation in Bhubaneswar.
Around 500 students from various institutes across the state pledged to donate their organs during a recent drive. Young Indians, Bhubaneswar Chapter, a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry, and the All-India Medical Students’Association, organised the “Gift An Organ” campaign. They interacted with the public and conveyed the importance and the medical procedure of organ donation to the public.
“There is a gap between demand and supply. Public support for organ donation by the public is critical to shortening patients’ waiting time for organ transplants,” said Abhijit Upadhaya, an organiser.
