Pledge to conserve nature - DAV students undertake swachh drive

Save the rivers 

DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, students recently took part in a “Save Our Rivers” awareness campaign on the Kuakhai riverbanks. They also took out a rally to create awareness among local residents. Earlier, a painting competition was organised on the school premises to spread the message among the students.

Veggie garden

Students and teachers of the Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education, Bhuba-neswar, developed a nutritional garden on the premises to encourage the youngsters to take up urban gardening and make the clean and green vegetables accessible. 

They have grown leafy vegetables, perennial plants and seasonal vegetables and also harvested the first produce of green vegetables from the garden, which is spread across around 1,000sqft on the school premises.

Gandhi Jayanti

The DAV Public School, Unit-VIII, observed Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti on the premises. Teachers and students paid floral tributes to portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. 

The teachers highlighted the importance of truth, punctuality and simplicity, apart from motivating the students to follow the principles and ideals of these great personalities. 

The students also conducted a sanitation drive by cleaning the school premises, playground and surroundings to propagate the message of cleanliness and hygiene.

Clean mission

SOS Children’s Villages of India took part in the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign launched on September 15. The fortnight-long campaign concluded on Gandhi Jayanti, which also marked third anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission. They collaborated with Bakul Foundation to organise a cleanliness drive in and around the village. Children from the village were excited to be included in the campaign and took part with enthusiasm.

KIIT honour

The KIIT International School, Bhubaneswar, has been ranked eighth among international day-cum-boarding schools by Education World, a portal providing education news and institute details with ranking and reviews. The institute has also received special mention for the Best Green School in eastern India and also rated the award as the best STEM Education School. School chairperson Mona Lisa Bal recently received the award in Delhi.
