Cuttack, March 31: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, has geared up for the annual high school certificate (HSC) re-examination for regular students. The re-examination is three weeks away.

A monitoring committee was constituted today to chalk out strategies and ensure that the re-examination was conducted smoothly and in a transparent manner.

Officials said the monitoring committee headed by BSE secretary would review the progress of all the arrangements being made for the examination for regular students starting from April 17.

“The committee will review the arrangements and ensure that all the necessary arrangements, from printing of question papers to dispatch and security, are made till the start of the examination,” said BSE secretary Nihar Ranjan Mohapatra.

Nearly 10 to 15 officials of the board, including the examination comptroller, will review the arrangements being made for the examination that was earlier postponed following theft of question papers.

Nearly 5 lakh students are set to appear the examination starting from April 17. Board officials said efforts were on to set up nodal centres in different districts for the security of confidential materials such as question papers.

“So far, we have received a list of nodal centres from four to five inspectors and a training programme for the district education officers, nodal officers and deputy nodal officers on April 3 during which they will be trained on handling and distributing question papers,” Mohapatra said.

The state government has also appointed coordination officers for 11 districts that do not have district inspectors of schools and the officials concerned will work under the district collector.

Apart from this, the board has urged the district collectors to engage block development officers and tehsildars to ensure that there was no external interference at examination centres.

The examination for ex-regular and madhyama students, which was continuing as per previous schedule from March 19, concluded today.
