Bhubaneswar, Dec. 18: Love cows and want to have one as a pet? Well, you don't have to scratch your head thinking where to accommodate it in your 1,000sqft flat.

A group of youngsters have come up with an innovative alternative, where they will offer to take care of your cow, provide them high-class accommodation, feed them organic fodder, pure drinking water and everything necessary while you get on with life as a proud cow owner.

You also have the option of naming the cow and check how it is being kept and click selfies.

"Our idea is to promote integrated farming business for people who are interested to be a part of agriculture. The idea allows anyone to be a proud owner of a cow. This would indirectly contribute to dairy farming as well as in the agricultural sector," said Anant Basudev, who has started the initiative.

It was started under the aegis of Koraput Diary, which applies modern technology.

This is also an effort to get city people generate an interest towards agriculture and dairy farming," Said Basudev.

Explaining the scheme, relationship manager Partha Samal said individuals, groups, self-help groups and families are invited to join this programme by owning one or multiple cows and sign an MoU with the company for a period of five years.

The interested individual or group must deposit one time investment of Rs 90,000 to become the owner of a high-yield cross breed Holstein Friesian cow.

Koraput Dairy will take the responsibility of your cow, providing high class accommodation, organic fodder, concentrated feed, international standard milking parlour, herd management system and proper hygienic upbringing for the calves with 24X7 veterinary care.

The owner will be provided a tag number for the cow, photograph, insurance copy along with a lot of happiness," said Samal. The owner can visit the farm to see their cow at any given point of time.

The dairy has also developed a repayment structure for the cow as per which the investors can start getting their returns within 30 days at the rate of Rs 1,800 per month for a period of five years. At the end of the fifth year, the initial investment amount of Rs 90,000 will also be paid back to the owner who can again buy back the cow for another five years.
