Demand for HC bench

Berhampur: Members of the Ganjam Bar Association have stopped work since Saturday demanding the establishment of a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in Berhampur. “The Union government has accepted the policy of “justice at doorstep” with the justice delivery system being a fundamental right of the citizens of this country. Therefore, people of this area cannot be denied their right to get justice at their doorstep,” said Jyoti Prasad Chotray, secretary of the Ganjam Bar Association.

Six died

Bhubaneswar: Six people died as lightning struck them at various places across the state due to thundersquall on Sunday evening. Rain lashed at the twin cities while Cuttack was severely hit by the thunderstorm. While two persons died in Gunupur district, a person was also killed in Jagatpur near Cuttack. Roads connecting Cuttack with Barang and Bidyadharpur were blocked by uprooted trees.

CHSE results

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) would announce the Plus Two exams results for arts, science, commerce and vocational education streams on Monday at 10am. The result booklets would be made available at five places across the state. These are the CHSE office in Bhubaneswar, Ravenshaw Junior College in Cuttack and three zonal offices in Baripada, Sambalpur and Berhampur. Results can also be seen at the website www.orissaresults.nic.in from 10.45am. This year, nearly 2.76 lakh students had appeared for the Plus Two exams.

OPL match

Bhubaneswar: Katak Barabati Tigers (Cuttack) played its fourth match of the OPL tournament against Kashvi Power Rangers (Keonjhar) at the Barabati Stadium on Sunday.
