Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Limited’s (Nalco) chief managing director B.L. Bagra Tuesday handed over the new share certificate to Union minister of mines Dinsha J. Patel in New Delhi. Post restructuring, the government of India holds 224,59,98,540 equity shares of Rs 5 each, constituting 87.15 per cent of the total paid up equity capital of Rs 1288.62 crore. The company has also made a provision for Employees Stock Option Plan (ESOP) by amending its Article of Association. The ESOP has been planned to be issued to the executives of the company as part of performance related payment, an official release stated. Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday visited Koraput to inaugurate several welfare projects. The chief minister inaugurated a girls hostel at Hardal of Boriguma. He also inaugurated an integrated tourism complex near Kolab dam. The chief minister also laid foundation stone of a township complex at Landiguda and addressed a public meeting at Nishamanimunda. Bhubaneswar: Roadside vendors protested against an eviction drive launched by Sambalpur Municipality in Sambalpur on Tuesday. While the civic authorities claimed that the eviction drive was being carried out as part of the city beautification drive and for widening of roads, the vendors alleged that the drive was illegal as they were not served prior notices. Bhubaneswar: To make entry of the physically challenged, senior citizens and young children easy in all public places in the state, a two-day workshop began here on Tuesday at the State Urban Development Agency. The event was attended by members of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Bhubaneswar Development Authority, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation and public works department. “The event will sensitise the engineers, architects, planners and technical persons of different government departments on the national building standards while building public structures,” said BMC commissioner Vishal Kumar Dev. Balasore: Workers of the Eastern Cylinder Private Limited (ECPL), a domestic LPG valve and pressure regulator manufacturing company, embarked on a token dharna in front of district labour office on Tuesday. They said that the company did not implement the earlier tripartite agreement and had failed in effective intervention in mitigating their issues. Balasore: One person died in a road mishap on NH-5 near Soro, Uttareswar on Tuesday morning. The accident took place when a truck collided with another four-wheeler. The deceased has been identified as Bibhuti Mohanty of Moroda, Mayurbhanj. The driver of the truck has fled the spot, said police sources. Bhubaneswar: Ramesh Chandra Sethy (51), a resident of Amrutamanohi village in Kendrapara, allegedly died of sunstroke while working in the field. Local residents rushed him to a community health centre, where he was declared brought dead by a doctor.
