Bhubaneswar, Feb. 11: Students appearing for the matriculation exams this year can download their admit cards online.

The exam is scheduled to begin on February 22. The state school and mass education department has set up 367 nodal centres and 67 evaluation centres for conducting the exam.

"Hard copies of the admit cards will also be sent to respective schools," said school and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra.

"Since we are introducing the online facility for the first time and many students may not be very comfortable downloading it, we have also decided to send the hard copies," said Mishra.

The examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), will begin from February 22 and will continue till March 4. The evaluation of answer sheets will begin from March 11.

As many as 6,01,348 students will appear for the exam in 2,882 centres. A total of 205 new exam centres have been added this year.

BSE president Dakshya Prasad Nanda said preparations for conducting the written tests had reached the final stage and hoped for a smooth conduct of the exams.

In another related development, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has begun the evaluation of the annual Plus Two practical examination papers.

The practical examination in all private, non-government and government colleges had begun in the state on January 27.

The evaluation process will continue till February 29, before the commencement of the theory exams.

CHSE chairman Basudev Chhatoi said arrangements for 46 tables with 5,000 to 6,000 papers with a chief examiner to oversee the evaluation work had already been made.

The council had directed all private college authorities to install CCTVs to keep a check on unfair practice during the practical exams. The CCTV footages from all colleges have also reached the council office.

"We had made it clear that those colleges who fail to send CCTV footages will face action and get derecognised. The answer papers from any such colleges will also not be evaluated by the CHSE," said Chhatoi.
