Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday conducted raids at five places, including the house and office of Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority's chief accounts officer Nalini Kumari Prusty, on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to her income.

The sleuths have so far traced movable and immovable properties worth Rs 6.87 crore of the Class I official - which is the highest in terms of detection of property acquired by government officials by the vigilance.

The anti-corruption wing conducted raids on her residential building at Chandrasekahrpur, office in Bhubaneswar and the houses of her relatives in Kendrapara district.

The sleuths also raided the office of her husband Bijay Ketan Sahu working as a tehsildar at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district.

The officials have traced two flats at Madhusudan Nagar worth Rs 1.8 crore. The team was in disbelief when they found interior decoration done at both the flats at a cost of around Rs 1.34 crore. Several plots of the Odisha Financial Service officer and her family members were found in Bhubaneswar and Jatni worth lakhs of rupees.

"We found fixed deposits in various banks worth Rs 1.04 crore and cash of Rs 5.75 lakh during the operation," said an official.

"We have also traced diamond and 1,100 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh. Similarly, we have found household articles worth Rs 46 lakh," the official said.

"The searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant. We are ascertaining the actual income of the official," he said.

Prusty, on the other hand, said most of the properties were her paternal property.

"Besides, we have also sold few of paternal plots. I will definitely challenge the vigilance raids in the court," she said after the raids.
