Bhubaneswar, June 30: An Odissi dance concert, held by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), showcased brilliant choreographies by revered gurus as well a some innovative compositions.

Artistes from dance group Nrutyayana performed at the event held in Rabindra Mandap on Wednesday. The event began with an invocation of the Sun God, titled Aditya Archana. This intricate composition revolved around the various facets of the Sun and the role it plays from sunrise to sunset.

The piece was impressively performed by the young artistes who crafted many formations on the stage and portrayed marvellous synchronisation.

The choreography was done by guru Durga Charan Ranbir while the music was composed by Ramahari Das.

The artistes also staged a Sthayee dance item and a Balagopalasthakam, the latter being a vivid choreography of guru Pankaj Charan Das.

It revolved around the mythological tales of Lord Krishna illustrating his mischief as a kid that amused the people of Brindaban.

“The devotional aspects were well depicted in the dance pieces. Especially, the item based on the Sun God was beautifully composed and that was executed with finesse,” said Purnima Mishra, a viewer.
