Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday cleared five investment proposals that included setting up two aluminium downstream units in Angul and a 4-star hotel in Cuttack.

The nod to these projects was given at the meeting of the State-Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) presided by chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.

Odisha industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra said these five projects would bring in an investment of Rs 328 crore.

The state government has initiated steps to woo investments to Odisha. An official delegation recently visited Japan and Thailand to attract investors.

Last year, the government had hosted investor meets in Mumbai, Bangalore and Bhubaneswar. The government has also planned a Make in Odisha Conclave in Bhubaneswar in November next year.

The first project to be cleared by the single-window authority on Tuesday is a manufacturing unit proposed to be set up for Rs 75 crore. It will produce 35,000 tonnes of aluminium alloy conductors, alloy wires and rods per annum at the Angul aluminium park.

The other downstream project is a manufacturing plant. It will produce 33,500 tonnes of aluminium and alloy products every year at Angul. The project will come up for an investment of Rs 56.87 crore.

To facilitate industrial growth, the Odisha government is providing a discount of Rs 10 lakh per acre to downstream projects in land cost. Nalco is also offering a price discount of Rs 4,000 per tonne on aluminium ingots and Rs 5,000 per tonne on molten metal to support downstream players setting up units at Angul.

A four-star hotel will be set up in Cuttack for Rs 54.50 crore. It will create an employment opportunity for 129 people.

The project that got clearance was a 30,000 tonne per annum vegetable oil manufacturing unit at Khurda industrial area. The project will come up for Rs 91.45 crore and employ 384 people.

A government official said the state pioneered single-window clearances and was a "leader" in facilitating reforms in doing business.
