Bhubaneswar, Aug. 24: The Odisha government and Invest Bhubaneswar, a team of entrepreneurs and businessmen from the state, are planning to hold an interactive session with industrialists and businessmen in Singapore next month to woo investors to the state.

The event, which is scheduled to be held on September 25, will be organised with the objective of showcasing investment potentials of Odisha and interacting with business community of Singapore, official sources said.

Singapore Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries will be the associate partner for the event. Singapore has been chosen, as in recent days it has emerged as a key financial hub of Asia. It has been recognised to have the most open economy with best investment potential.

Singapore has the highest density of wealthy people and around 7 per cent of its population takes part in entrepreneurial activities and investment in international business, a representative of Invest Bhubaneswar said. The business community of Singapore has also expressed interest to invest in Odisha because of state’s high growth rate and enabling policies, said a representative of Invest Bhubaneswar during a presentation at a meeting with government officials.

Chief secretary Bijay Patnaik asked the state-owned Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation to prepare a road map of investment opportunities in Odisha with specific sectors and targets. Patnaik advised the Invest Bhubaneswar team to arrange for a deal between entrepreneurs in Odisha and Singapore, particularly in the field of small and medium industries.
