MoU signed for piped gas supply
Bhubaneswar: An MoU was signed between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and the state-run Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation for supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through pipeline. NG will be supplied to domestic, industrial and commercial consumers in a few urban centres in the state including Bhubaneswar in the first phase. A LNG terminal will be set up at Dhamra. Bhubaneswar: Deepak Behera was appointed the new vice-chancellor of Berhampur University, succeeding J.K. Mohapatra. Behera is, at present, a professor of anthropology at the Sambalpur University. Governor S.C. Jamir had interviewed three candidates, including Mahapatra for the post. Kendrapara: A 22-year-old migrant labourer was held for allegedly molesting a six-year-old girl by luring her with chocolate. The incident took place in Badataila hamlet, about 55km from here. The offender Babu Das from Ganjam confessed to the crime during interrogation. Sambalpur: Lawyers of Sambalpur Bar Association paralysed functioning of state and central government offices demanding high court bench in western Odisha. The central action committee of the Western Odisha bar associations has also decided to intensify their stir during the monsoon session of Assembly if the state government did not recommend establishment of the bench by August 15. Bhubaneswar: An unidentified body of a 45-year-old tourist was found under the jurisdiction of Puri sea beach police station. Police have sent it for post-mortem to ascertain the possible reasons behind it. Bhubaneswar: Youths who had applied for the post of siksha sahayaks gheraoed the Puri district collector’s office alleging mismanagement. They said general candidates were considered for the job when there was a clear mention of reservation for SC candidates. Balasore: Dacoits fired at a 45-year-old man leaving him seriously injured. The victim, Dhananjay Kamila, of Debdhar village was admitted to a local hospital but later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition worsened.
