Jajpur food poisoning

Jajpur: District collector Anil Kumar Samal ordered suspension of the cook of the government-run Kanyashram in Baliapal after 102 students of the school fell ill after their Monday dinner. Besides taking action against the cook, Anita Haiburu, the collector has sought an explanation from hostel warden Draupadi Tamsai.

Accident

Dhenkanal: A passenger train hit an autorickshaw at an unmanned level crossing at Asan Bahali, killing one and injuring a child. The deceased was identified as Rajesh Prusty, 55 of Indipur village. His injured grandson has been admitted to Dhenkanal hospital.

Rape

Paradip: A 15-year-old was allegedly raped in her house when her daily wage-earning parents were not around. The accused, has been taken into custody and confessed to the crime, said Paradip sub-divisional police officer.

Twin deaths

Bhubaneswar: Two tourists drowned on Wednesday while bathing in Puri. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem.

Tension

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Vivekananda hospital here following the death of a patient, Dimple Tripathy, who was admitted with burn injuries on December 19.

Demolish lessons

Bhubaneswar: Indore-based implosion expert, S.B. Sarwate on Wednesday interacted with Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) enforcement squad, which will initiate a field survey on Thursday to look into possibilities of the use of implosion technology to demolish illegal structures in the city. Already 10 such high-rise structures, blatantly violating the building and plan regulations, have been identified. arwate, so far, has helped various urban bodies to demolish more than 200 illegal structures across the nation through the controlled explosion technology. Three drugged

Bhubaneswar: Government Railway Police admitted three persons to a hospital after they were drugged in a train. They were unconscious and their dentities unknown by ednesday evening.

Five arrested

Bhubaneswar: Comissionerate police arrested five dacoits from Nayagarh and seized a Scorpio vehicle and pistol from their possession. The group was involved in several incidents of highway robbery in the past.
