Puri: The state government on Thursday reviewed the preparations for conducting of annual car festival of Lord Jagannath in June. Revenue divisional commissioner (central) S.K. Vashisth said deadlines were fixed for different works and there would two more review meetings to monitor the progress. The district collector would review the progress every week.hief administrator of Jagannath temple Arvind Padhee said the grand event would be conducted in close coordination with the state government and the servitors.

Draft policy

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday formulated a draft policy for women and girl child, which aims at creating an enabling environment for girls and women that promotes equal opportunities, eliminates discrimination and ensures holistic development and empowerment. Chief secretary J.K. Mohapatra said the draft policy would be sent to law and finance departments for examination, following which it would be placed before the new government.

OCA award

Cuttack: Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) today announced a cash award of Rs 2 lakh for preparing a sporting pitch and ground for the T20 match between Kings XI Punjab that was played at Barabati stadium on Wednesday. Around 416 runs were scored in both the innings which provided much entertainment to the spectators.

Fake papers

uttack: In a twist to the alleged kidney theft case, the income certificate submitted by the donor’s husband, Bhabagrahi Nayak, has been found to be fake on Thursday. Sadar tehsildar Abanikant Patnaik said that according to preliminary investigation following media reports, it was found that the serial number in the certificate issued in February 2014 was actually issued to a youth in connection with an application for an educational loan. o such certificate bearing the same serial number as submitted by one Padmini Nayak of Thoria Sahi, who underwent kidney transplant at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar was ssued.
