Bhubaneswar: Musicians Kalyanji-Anandji will be awarded the Akshay Samman this year. The duo will be honoured during the legendary musician Akshay Mohanty’s 75th birth anniversary celebrations, said Devdas Chhotray of the Akshay Mohanty Foundation. Winners of the song competition based on Mohanty’s music will also be honoured at the event. Tributes will also be paid to Mohanty follower and singer Prasant Muduli, who passed away last week. Bhubaneswar: The Justice P.K. Mohanty Commission probing the Pipili rape and murder case has asked former minister Pradeep Maharathy, home secretary U.N. Behera and director general of police Prakash Mishra to submit affidavits. Earlier, the commission had issued notices to three doctors of Capital Hospital who had examined the girl to ascertain if she was raped. Bhubaneswar: The city office of the new political forum — Odisha Jan Morcha — was inaugurated on Monday at Saheed Nagar. The dissident BJD leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra was present at the event. The office bearers of the forum also applied for a fresh permission from the police to hold a rally and public meeting in the city on October 28.
