Cold wave in state

Bhubaneswar: Weathermen have issued a warning that cold wave conditions will prevail in most parts of the state in the next 48 hours. hulbani recorded the coldest place on Wednesday with a minimum temperature of three degrees Celsius. any other places such as Baripada, Sundergarh, Sambalpur and Keonjhargarh have been recording night temperatures in the five to eight degrees Celsius range.

Train time

Bhubaneswar: Train services towards northern part of India from the East Coast Railway jurisdiction have been cancelled and rescheduled because of heavy fog. he Puri-New Delhi Purusottam Express and the Bhubaneswar-LTT Express have been rescheduled. On the other hand, the Puri-New Delhi Nandankanan Express and the New Delhi-Puri Nandankanan has been cancelled.

House burnt

Bhubaneswar: Goons on Wednesday set a house at Mancheswar on fire following an altercation between two groups. The victim’s family has filed a case with local police.

No change

Bhubaneswar: The Reserve Bank of India has proposed to close its note and coin exchange counters meant for the public with effect from January 1 at all offices of the bank across the country. This move has been criticised by the United Forum of Reserve Bank Officers and Employees in the capital.

Award

Bhubaneswar: International chess player Debashis Das was conferred the 20th Ekalabya Puraskar for the year 2012. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. Weightlifter Pramila Krisani and athlete Shrabani Nanda also received citations on the occasion.

Sargi Fula

Bhubaneswar: The three-day state-level children’s festival Sargi Fula-2012, organised by the scheduled tribe and scheduled caste development department, will begin on Thursday at Adivasi Grounds here. he festival is being held for children of SC/ST communities, studying in schools run by the department across 30 districts of the state.

Entry ban

Bhubaneswar: Wildlife authorities have imposed a two-week ban on visitors’ entry to Nalabana bird sanctuary for the bird census in the Chilika region on January 5 and 6. ivisional forest officer of the Chilika Wildlife Division B.P. Acharya said no boats other than the patrolling ones would be allowed into the sanctuary.

Dubai show

Bhubaneswar: The Real Estate Developers Association of Odisha will organise a property show titled Odisha Property Show-2012 in Dubai on Friday in association with the Odisha Samaj of United Arab Emirates.Indian Ambassador to UAE M. Lokesh will inaugurate the event.
