Angul: Secondary education director suspended the headmaster of Town Girls' High school at Pallahara on charges of misbehaving with girl students in an inebriated state. The girls had complained to the sub-collector against Himansu Sekhar Sethi. The district education officer, who probed the matter, found Sethi guilty. Sambalpur: Burla police registered a case against the chairperson of Burla Notified Area Council (NAC), Chandrabati Naik, after the caste certificate submitted by her was found to be fake. Naik was elected from Ward no. 3 of Burla NAC, reserved for schedule castes, as an Independent candidate and then elected as chairperson of the civic body with help of BJD councillors. Kendrapara: A 15-year-old school dropout was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man in Baghadia village within Marshaghai police limits, about 20km from here. The incident took place on Tuesday when the girl had gone to attend nature's call. The accused Srikant Behera is absconding. Bhubaneswar: Law secretary Satrughna Pujari and Ganjam district judge Debabrata Das would be administered oath as judges of Orissa High Court on November 29. With this appointment, the number of judges in the high court will go up to 17. Bhubaneswar: Tests preceding the matric exams commenced from November 27 with students answering multiple-choice objective and subjective questions that will be introduced for the present batch in March 2014. According to the new system, a student will be required to attempt 50 objective questions on optical mark recognition sheets in an hour. The exam will be for 90 minutes. Cuttack: Three members of a criminal gang planning to commit a dacoity were arrested. Two motorcycles, four live crude bombs, two sharp weapons, 12 sim cards, four mobile phones and cash worth Rs 15,900 were recovered from them.
