Criminals arrested
Cuttack: Police have arrested 112 criminals out of 1,068 identified habitual offenders under Section 110 of the CrPC to ensure a peaceful Dussehra and immersion. Odisha's director general of police R.P. Sharma said 21 persons had been arrested so far for forcefully collecting donations, while 22 cases were registered in various police stations across the state in this connection. Similarly, 20 illegal firearms, 683 live ammunitions, 11 live bombs and 1,000 detonators have been seized.

Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of Anganwadi workers continued their indefinite dharna near the Odisha Assembly despite the Puja holidays. They have been sitting on dharna since September 14 to press for salary hike and other demands. Their demands are Rs 18,000 monthly salary, compensation in case of death, retirement and other government benefits.

Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday urged people to maintain harmony during Durga Puja and Muharram. As the immersion of Goddess Durga falls on the day of Muharram, Odisha DGP R.P. Sharma asked all superintendents of police to fix different schedules for the festivals.
