Woman killed
Jharsuguda: A youth allegedly hacked to death his sister-in-law over a family feud at Bhikhya-mapali village within Rengali police limits in Jharsuguda district on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Dayalal Meher, attacked his sister-in-law Binita with a sharp weapon following a heated argument, sources said. Later, Dayalal surrendered before the Rengali police and confessed to the crime. The cops have lodged a murder case against Dayalal and investigation have started a probe into the incident.
Roadblock
Bhubaneswar: A road blockade near Chandanpur bypass by activists of Lulu Sena and local residents sparked tensions in the area and disrupted vehicular traffic along the Bhubaneswar-Puri national highway. They were protesting with the body of a youth, identified as Sudarshan Swain, who had died after suffering multiple injuries in a group clash that occurred in Katkana village in Puri recently.

Berhampur: Tibetan women settled in Chandragiri area of Gajapati district on Wednesday staged a rally seeking the release of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the eleventh Panchen Lama, believed to be in China. He has been missing since he was six years old, 22 years ago. Under the banner of the Tibetan Women s Association, several Tibetan women staged a rally near the Khallikote Cluster University here. They raised slogans against the Chinese administration and demanded release of Panchen Lama.

Cuttack: An undertrial was allegedly by Choudwar jail officials’ atrocity for asking them for a dress brought by his wife. He was attacked by the officials and branded with cigarettes. The prisoner was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition. The victim was identified as Saroj Kumar Das, 37.
Heat wave
Bhubaneswar: Scorching heat continued across the state, particularly in interior and western parts of Odisha throwing normal life out of gear. The heat is unbearable even at seven in the morning in most places in western Odisha. The maximum temperature was 46.5°C at Titlagarh on Tuesday.
