Ex-MLA freed

Sambalpur: Former MLA and suspended BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra, who was arrested on Friday ahead of Hanuman Jayanti, was released on Saturday. Police released him after producing him before the sub-collector. The cops arrested him as a precautionary measure before the celebrations.

Robbery

Balasore: Unidentified robbers looted Rs 5 lakh from a panchayat official near Kaleipada in Angul on Saturday. Sources said two men on motorcycles intercepted Khinda panchayat official Prasanta Sahu when he was on his was to Khinda from Angul. He had Rs 5 lakh meant for pension funds. A complaint in this regard has been lodged with police.

One injured

Puri: Gora Mallick, an accused in a bombing case, was injured in an encounter with police near Kumudala on Friday. Mallick has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Sources said Mallick was an accused in the Atharnala bombing case.
