3 dead in bee attack
Bhubaneswar: Three persons of a family, including two minor girls, died in a bee attack in Thuamul Rampur in Kalahandi district on Sunday evening. The deceased have been identified as Sumita Tarabhoi, 8, her 2-year-old younger sister Samita Tarabhoi and their 66-year-old grand mother. The parents of the deceased have been admitted to the nearest primary health centre.
Blade attack
Bhubaneswar: Four persons allegedly attacked a woman with blades in Mathura village of Polsara block in Ganjam district. The victim Gouri Das, who suffered serious, has been admitted at the nearest hospital. The police said that the woman had borrowed some money from one of the accused but failed to return the loan, which led the incident.
Fire death
Bhubaneswar: One woman died in a major fire that broke out in Deulipada village in Mahakalpada police station limits in Kendrapada district on Saturday night. Three houses were gutted and a woman identified as Deeptimayee Das, 23, lost her life in the incident. The cops said that the woman was burnt alive before anyone could come to her rescue.
Road accident
Bhubaneswar: Three persons, including an ambulance driver, sustained serious injuries when the ambulances in which they were travelling rammed into a tree near Bandhaguda in Malkangiri district on Saturday night.
The mishap took place near Bandhaguda on the Jeypore-Malkangiri main road. The ambulance crashed into a tree on roadside after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The injured have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital
Surprise visit
Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Pratap Jena paid a surprise visit to the Sishubhavan in Cuttack on Saturday night. The minister took a stock of the medical facilities in the institution and instructed the hospital staff to be more cooperative with the patients. The establishment had come into limelight after more than 50 infants died in the facility in a short span of time in August, 2015 due to lack of proper amenities.
