Road mishap

Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and eight others were injured when a Bolero skidded off the road on National Highway 60 in Balasore district. Nine persons from Basudevpur in Bhadrak district were on their way to celebrate Durga Puja in Bengal when their vehicle skidded off the road near Nidhipanda Bridge. The injured were admitted to the Balasore hospital.

Woman dies

Bhubaneswar: A pregnant woman died on Saturday, allegedly due to negligence in treatment at Champua Hospital in Keonjhar district. The deceased, Babita Minz, was admitted to the hospital after she went into labour  on Friday. The family members alleged that the doctors did not attend to her. The family also failed to get blood from the blood bank of the hospital. However, hospital authorities have denied the allegations.

Wall collapse

Bhubaneswar: A minor girl died and three others were injured in a wall collapse at Rengalbeda Seva Ashram in Riamal block of Deogarh district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Kajal Mahar, 10, whose mother works in the Seva Ashram. Kajal’s sister was also injured in the mishap. The injured were first rushed to Deogarh district headquarters hospital and were later shifted to Vimsar, Burla, as their condition deteriorated. Local residents staged a protest demanding compensation for the family.
