Crocodile attack
Kendrapara: Crocodile attacks have sparked panic in human settlements near Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district. The rise in water-level of the Brahmani and Baitarani rivers during the monsoon paves way for the crocodiles to move to bathing ghats at Aul and Rajnagar, which is visited by the villagers on a daily basis. According to reports, the barriers and wire net set up by the forest department cannot check the entry of the crocodiles. The barriers at many bathing ghats have broken due to which there is a rise in human-crocodile encounters.
Four killed
Dhenkanal: Four persons were killed in an accident on the national highway near Nadhara in Dhenkanal district while they were on their way to Vimsar in Burla with a patient. According to reports, a truck hit the SUV from behind near Nadhara within Motanga police limits, killing four and injuring two. Two critically injured have been admitted to the Community Health Centre at Hindol and they were said to be out of danger.
Bus services
Balasore: Passengers bore the brunt after bus services between Balasore and Bhadrak were suspended following a dispute between the owners’ associations of the two districts. The passengers were seen waiting at the bus depot in Bhadrak with their luggages for resumption of the services. The issue started when some members of the Bhadrak association detained a Balasore owner’s bus over a petty issue.
