Special scheme 

Bhubaneswar: The state government is going to launch a special scheme shortly with an outlay of Rs 795 crore to ensure livelihood support of vulnerable tribal groups. It was announced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the Tribes Advisory Council meet held on Thursday. 

Aqua meet

Bhubaneswar: Worldfish, a global aquaculture and genetic improvement organisation, will partner with Odisha to improve fish production and meet its target of doubling the fish production in five years. Worldfish director Michael Phillips made a presentation before chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the secretariat on Thursday.

Assault cuffs

Kendrapara: Police have arrested a 30-year-old man on charges of assaulting his father at Nankar village in the Kendrapara Sadar police limits. Srinibas beat up his father Bhaskar Rout in a fit of rage. The police acting on the villagers’ complaint, swung into action and arrested him.

Suicide

Kendrapara: In a fallout of a domestic feud, a 45-year-old man set himself on fire and died at Belarpur village in the Derabish police limits on Thursday. The deceased, Sarat Barik, is a father of five children.
