CM’s plea
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged the Centre for earmarking more auctions for coal mines for the non-regulated sector comprising steel, aluminium and cement industries and their captive power plants.
So far, nine coal blocks of Odisha have been earmarked for auction and out of them, only one mine, (Jamkhani) have been earmarked for the non-regulated sector.
Treatment
Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former Kantabanji MLA, Santosh Singh Saluja, who was undergoing treatment after being critically injured in an attack on Thursday, has been shifted to Delhi on friday for further treatment. Balangir police have arrested five persons in connection with the assault.

Berhampur: Gosaninuagaon police have arrested the former city mayor, Siba Shankar Dash, on Thursday night.
'We have arrested him on the charges of attempt to murder. He wanted to kill the son of BJD leader Alekh Choudhury, ' said the inspector-in-charge of Gosaninuagaon police station, Mamata Nayak.

Balasore: A demand for sub-division status for Jaleswar has been made by various associations and civil society organisations.
Preventive custody
Sambalpur: At least 78 BJP workers, including the former Sambalpur MLA, Jaya Narayana Mishra and BJP district president, Nauri Nayak, and 60 Congress party workers, including the town Congress committee president, Jayashankar Mishra were taken into preventive custody ahead of chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to the city on Friday.
Doc attack
Kendrapara: Patkura police forwarded two persons to court for beating up Himanshu Bhusan Sadangi, medical officer of the community health centre, three days ago.The attack on the doctor during duty hours had triggered public protest with locals staging dharna in front of the police station.
