Bodies found
Bhubaneswar: The bodies of the wife and son of a Jeypore-based businessman were recovered from a hotel in Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Kuntala Panda, 59, and her son Amit, 37. Sources said Radha Nath Panda, the businessman, along with his wife and son had left for Vizianagaram for treatment on August 4.
One dead
Nabarangpur: A woman died while two children of the same family were taken ill after consuming country cakes here on Monday. The incident occurred at Raighar Haldi village when the family members complained of acute stomach pain after consuming the country cakes brought by their relative on rakhi.
Rare birds
Bhawanipatna: Forest officials rescued 12 rare mountain quails from a bus in Kalahandi on Monday. The bus owner Chintamani Chatria, driver Punia Majhi and helper Pradip Majhi have also been arrested.
Woman hacked
Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly hacked his aunt to death following suspicion that her sorcery had led to the death of his uncle in Mayurbhanj on Sunday. The accused later surrendered before police. The accused, Shiva hacked his aunt, Gumi, with a billhook.
Fire toll
Rourkela: The number of deaths in the cylinder mishap here rose to four after one more succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Ispat General Hospital.
